Your hosts on farm Askevold, Hagen und Birgit Eggert, are Namibians of German origin who run the family farm in the fourth generation. Both Birgit and Hagen are fluent in English, German and Afrikaans, while Birgit also speaks the local Nama language involving several different click sounds. During the course of many years Hagen’s forebears bought several smaller adjoining farms so that the entire property now measures 7000ha. Hagen and Birgit breed white Brahman cattle – a breed of cattle with a hump and long ears related to the Zebu. In addition they produce maize, which is one of Namibia’s staple foods. 

In order to utilise the large numbers of game on the farm Hagen in 1998 qualified as a hunting guide. Birgit received training in fabrics and design as well as food science before coming to settle on the farm. The accommodation on Askevold consists of four en suite guest rooms well equipped with all modern amenities. At any one time only one group of a maximum of four hunters plus their companions will be accepted. Each hunter can therefore be sure of the full personal attention of his hunting guide.
